Maintenance of the future: Excellent production processes thought holistically - Expo Smart Marktplatz

Smart Maintenance Pavilion at automatica

Digitalization and AI are now also dominating the public discussion. But usually there are more questions than answers. The automatica from June 27th to 30th, 2023 in Munich with digital solutions and components in the areas of robotics, industrial image processing and assembly technology comes at just the right time: Here visitors can find out first-hand how these technologies make industrial production more efficient and safer and make it more sustainable. Since this year, automatica has been taking place parallel to LASER World of PHOTONICS - the world's leading trade fair and congress for photonics components, systems and applications.

automatica 2023 will focus on three key themes. These include digital integration and AI, sustainable production and the future of work. “If you look at the leap in development that these future technologies have made within just one year, it quickly becomes clear what dimension we are dealing with here. It’s about a new era of automation with a huge impact on the productivity and competitiveness of companies,” emphasizes Patrick Schwarzkopf, Managing Director of the VDMA Robotics + Automation Association. What will be crucial is how quickly the industry manages to exploit the full potential of this technology.

As a lively forum and important, interdisciplinary dialogue platform, the Smart Maintenance Pavilion is highlighting all aspects of modern maintenance for the third time. An innovation topic that is particularly important at the leading trade fair for automated production - in the middle of Hall B6 with the focus on industrial robotics, drive technology, control technology and industrial communication, software and cloud computing.

Holistic approach

Digital technologies ensure intelligent and networked production and bring great potential for companies. In order to increase cost and resource efficiency, comprehensive and predictive maintenance of production components plays a central role. As part of holistic asset management, it becomes a cross-departmental interface and ensures high system availability and flexibility. And through targeted integration into existing production processes, maintenance can quickly turn from a cost factor into a value creation factor.

Maintenance becomes a cross-sectional technology. The Smart Maintenance Pavilion therefore also covers important areas of the value chain relating to maintenance and integrates topics such as energy and resource management, industrial services and digital after-sales models as well as industrial IT solutions. With an exciting mix of theory and practice through the combination of exciting live demonstrations in the demo park, interesting lectures at the Speakers Corner and the innovative product presentations from the exhibitors, trade visitors are offered valuable added value. In addition to maintenance professionals, interested parties from other areas of the company can also get a well-founded overview and thus promote interdisciplinary discussion on process optimization in the company.

Wide range of exhibitions

This is also reflected in the field of participants in the Smart Maintenance Pavilion. Providers of classic maintenance solutions such as Fluke, H&H Systems Software, Messfeld, Membrain, dankl+partner, VSight and Smart Inspection are represented. There are also companies from areas such as AI, IoT, data security, cloud solutions and sensor technology:   Software AG, CyProtect, Semanticon, Shiratech-Knowtion, Aunovis, Dressler Automation, the Indian Ambit Software together with sugarCRM and the Japanese start-up Ball Wave.

The range of topics is correspondingly broad. From condition monitoring, mobile maintenance and remote maintenance solutions, field management and CMMS to IIoT platforms with AI for predictive maintenance, quality assurance in robot-supported manufacturing systems, flying gas chromatographs and Spot, the robot dog from Boston Dynamics, there is a lot on offer for trade visitors.

Accompanying lecture program

Spot is also part of the lecture program with a daily live demo. A wide range of valuable practical knowledge is imparted daily in the Meet the Experts Lounge at the stand. The topics range from extended reality solutions for remote maintenance, field service applications and predictive maintenance examples to the use of AI technologies for modern maintenance. In addition to the exhibiting companies, speakers from the Fraunhofer Institute IPK, igus, Schaeffler, SAP, IBM and Slalom are also represented.

The Smart Maintenance Pavilion is in Hall B6, stand number 520.
